In 2021, APC interns created two self-published works exploring and celebrating AAPI history, activism, and organizing. Explore these zines below.

Disobedience: An Exploration of APIDA Feminism (2021)

"Our theme, “Disobedience,” refers to the long held stereotype that Asian folks, particularly women, are “obedient," “submissive," and ‘rule-bound." These stereotypes are rooted in machinations of a Wester literature, culture, and political world that seeks our submission. This zine is a multi-faceted look at disobedience: APIDA folks striking back against the dominant Western forces, breaking out from stringent roles, and being APIDA feminists against expectations. Our hope is to produce a work that pays homage to APIDA feminists of the past, celebrates the APIDA feminists of today, and inspires APIDA feminists of the future. We want to recognize how past activism has led to contemporary movements both in the U.S. and abroad. And most importantly, we want you to recognize that you yourself can draw from the strength of your communities to make a mark on the world."

"This zine was made in honor of the countless lives lost to anti-Asian violence in the past year. In light of the violence, we want to use art, creativity, and compassion to share our truths as a form of healing. We hope readers of this zine will be inspired to reflect on this past year through their own avenues of creative expression. We also hope that you will be inspired to lean into your APIDA identity and to lean on your APIDA community as we move forward and rebuild after a truly trying time. We are stronger together, and we must lift as we climb."

May 2020 Allyship Statement

TW/CW: Police Violence and Anti-Black Racism

As we come to the end of APIDA History Month, we remember and recognize the dangers disenfranchised populations face when isolated without solidarity and allyship. Mindful of the disproportionate impacts of police brutality on Black folx, we must use our privileges as a community to rally behind them. Not only must we recognize the intersections of our histories with those of other communities of color, but we must also speak out against the injustices we see in the present, especially when they are perpetuated by our own communities.
